Lucknow: In a significant step towards strengthening medical research and innovation, two premier institutions in the capital signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research’s constituent laboratory, the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) entered into a long-term collaboration in the fields of research, education and innovation.
The MoU was signed in the presence of the chief guest, Dr Dheer Singh, Director of the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal, Haryana, and Dr Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director, CSIR-CIMAP. From RMLIMS, Institute Director Prof CM Singh, Additional Registrar Dr Manish Kumar Verma, and Dr Ajay Kumar Verma, Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine, were present on the occasion.
The agreement aims to promote research based on medicinal and aromatic plants, development of bioactive phyto-molecules, clinical and translational research, academic exchange, and dissemination of socially relevant scientific and technological knowledge.
Under the MoU, both institutions will jointly identify and implement research projects and submit collaborative proposals to national and international funding agencies, including WHO, ICMR, DBT, CSIR, DST and NIH. The collaboration will also facilitate faculty and student exchange programmes, joint scientific conferences, workshops, seminars, training programmes, and shared use of research infrastructure and laboratory facilities.

The partnership will encourage co-supervision of research scholars, joint theses and collaborative research work. Intellectual property generated under the agreement will be jointly owned by both institutions, with mutual efforts to translate research outcomes into commercially viable products and technologies.
The MoU will remain valid for five years from the date of signing and may be extended by mutual consent. Both institutions expressed confidence that the collaboration will make a meaningful contribution to medical, pharmaceutical research and public health.
